Course Description

This course contains the following lessons:

 Topic 1: Introduction to the Internet
Learn about the internet, how to connect to it, how to use it and what to do when things don’t work quite how they should. You’ll also learn to distinguish between the Internet and the World Wide Web, what your digital footprint is, and how to protect your personal information while online.  

 Topic 2: Internet Searches
This lesson covers all the basics of using the internet, including completing basic internet searches, together with identifying searches and understanding what browsers and web-based apps are. You will also learn to open tabs and web browser buttons.  

 Topic 3: Using the Internet
Learn to navigate and search the internet, how to understand domain extensions, and how to use sitemaps to navigate websites, and stay safe while doing so. You’ll learn to use advanced search functions including Boolean operators, and understand the basics of metadata and how it affects searches.  

 Topic 4: Accessing WiFi
This lesson teaches you the basics of Wi-Fi, including how to distinguish between Wi-Fi and mobile data, how to find and connect to Wi-Fi networks and stay safe while doing so, together with some basic troubleshooting. 

 Topic 5: Using Government Websites
Discover the role of Services Australia and be guided through setting up and using a MyGov account. You’ll learn just how your information is protected on Government websites and recognise additional features and links available to users.
