Course Description

This course contains the following lessons:

Topic 1: Digital Devices
This introductory lesson will teach you about common digital devices, including Mobile Phones, Laptops, Tablets and PCs, and the beginnings of how to use them. 

 Topic 2: Portable Digital Devices
Moving on to the next topic, you’ll discover features and functions of many Portable Digital Devices, including how to use Passcodes and PINs, navigating the lock screen and answering calls, and using touch screens to carry out tasks on your Portable Digital Device. 

 Topic 3: Other Digital Tools
Go beyond computers, smartphones and tablets, and learn how digital technologies are used in daily life, including remote controls, smart cards for public transport, RFID and near-field communication. You’ll also gain an understanding of gaming platforms and genres.

 Topic 4: Troubleshooting & Maintenance
An essential lesson for every user, this topic covers what makes your devices dirty, and how to effectively clean your headphones, devices, computer and peripherals. You’ll discover the importance of regular backups and keeping your filing as clean as your devices, together with how to troubleshoot your devices and internet connection.

 Topic 5: Use Digital Devices
Stepping things up a level, you’ll learn all about the different parts of email and how to use it properly. You’ll learn how to make calls from your mobile device, how to update your operating system, differentiate between conferencing apps, and understand the power, pros and cons of social media.

 Topic 6: Hardware
The last lesson of this microcredential teaches you about a range of input and output devices and how to identify their advantages and disadvantages. You’ll be guided through the identification of ports, cables and connections on various devices and will learn to interpret specifications relating to memory, storage and power.
