Course Description

This course contains the following lessons:

Topic 1: Using Software
In this lesson, you’ll learn the basics of software, using common software including Microsoft Word and Outlook and how to differentiate between social media apps and collaboration software. You’ll also learn how to complete digital forms, delete text and recognise and change notification settings and sounds. 

 Topic 2: File Management
An essential skill needed when using software is understanding the importance of file management. You’ll be able to recognise effective file and folder structures, how to save to them and how to search for specific content, files and folders within a file management system. 

 Topic 3: Video Conferencing & Calls
Learn all about video calls including etiquette, what equipment is needed for video calls, how to use note-taking apps during video calls, and some basic troubleshooting. You’ll also learn how to use a digital calendar to recall, add and edit video conference call bookings. 

 Topic 4: Software
The software we delve into with this lesson includes word processing (Word and Google Docs), spreadsheets (Excel and Google Sheets), presentation (PowerPoint and Google Slides), email (Outlook and Gmail) and other software such as web browsers, editing graphics and photos, basic formatting and saving and retrieving files.

 Topic 5: Maintaining Software
This final lesson covers how to identify and use different software, tell the difference between subscriptions and licences for software and recognise the different trials available to end users. You’ll learn to install software using wizards and software keys, how to update console software, and use, and maintain, email and calendar software.
