Course Description

This course contains the following lessons:

Topic 1: Emerging Technology Trends
In this lesson, you’ll learn the basics behind cryptocurrency and Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) together with gig and sharing economies. You’ll discover the metaverse, virtual worlds and virtual assistants together with workflow automation software and how algorithms and monetization of social media impact experiences online.

 Topic 2: Virtual Worlds & Metadata
Learn to identify and describe the metaverse and virtual worlds and the risks associated with participation. You’ll learn what to consider when creating a virtual world username, the types of virtual currencies, what data mining is, and how it relates to virtual worlds.

 Topic 3: Critical Evaluation of Online Information
The final lesson in this microcredential helps you to understand the function of data sets, the purpose of online reviews and recommendations, and how to identify deep fakes, fake reviews and recommendations. You’ll learn how to identify and avoid clickbait, understand algorithms and social media bots, and recognise sponsored ads, streamers and influencers.
