Course Description

This Level 3 Adopting lesson focuses on making your digital learning genuinely accessible and inclusive from the outset. You’ll revisit Universal Design for Learning (UDL) as a practical framework for planning lessons that offer multiple means of engagement, representation, and action and expression.
You’ll then connect UDL to web accessibility standards, exploring W3C and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), including the POUR principles.
Finally, you’ll work with accessibility checkers and practical checklists so you can evaluate and improve the accessibility of your own documents, presentations, videos and online content before release.

Apply UDL principles and the “+1” approach to reduce barriers and support learner variability in your lessons.
Plan courses and activities that integrate digital tools to provide multiple means of engagement, representation, and action and expression.
Explain the role of W3C and WCAG and describe the POUR principles in practical classroom terms.
Use accessibility checklists and tools (such as WAVE, Microsoft and Adobe checkers) to identify and fix common accessibility issues in your learning resources.
