Course Description

This course introduces the foundations of accessibility and inclusive education in digital contexts. You’ll explore the legal and policy landscape (including the Disability Standards for Education and Disability Discrimination Act), and what “on the same basis” means in practice when using digital technologies.

The course unpacks different types of disability and how they intersect with digital content and tools, then examines the benefits of accessible design for learners, educators and institutions.

You’ll explore key standards such as WCAG, a range of assistive and adaptive technologies, and practical strategies for ensuring your materials, activities and assessments are inclusive. Finally, you’ll look at how differentiation, adaptive learning and high-impact feedback practices (e.g. Hattie and Marzano’s work) can be supported by digital tools without replacing quality teaching.
Note: Access is granted for 3 months from the date of enrolment.
